TOMMIE SAYLOR: Stay with it through the finish line!

“Adversity doesn’t build character, it reveals it.”

By Tommie Saylor
Kennedy High School Principal

You can feel it. You can feel the fatigue as it lingers in the air, in everyone’s voice and their body language, You can read it on their faces and in their half-hearted smiles as we greet each other in the morning for the 154th or so time this school year.

Like marathon runners entering their 24th mile, we are tired. Tempers are short, our patience spent and we are all looking forward to seeing the finish line.

But though the end is near, it is not yet here, and how we finish the school year is just as important than how we began the school year.

With that being said, it is time to rally whatever strength we have left, tap into our reserves and push for the successful conclusion of the school year.

So pull up your bootstraps and let’s get this one in the books.

Remember why you are doing this. Remember why you come to work each day. Keep your eye on the prize. Your students need you at your best.

How and where will you lead them. Making Kennedy the school of choice. Excellence by design.
