TAYLOR PARKS ELEMENTARY honored by gift from artist
This
painting, based on the James Gurney illustration, occupies the lockers next to
the Taylor Parks Elementary School Library.
The work was done by Jan Dale, of
Dale House Murals, Allen Park, as a gift to Taylor Parks. Jan
worked at Taylor Parks as the Literacy Lab Facilitator, but has left to pursue
her love of art.
What a wonderful gift she has given to the students and staff
of Taylor Parks. The mural is amazing!
EUREKA HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY holds successful welcome back!
The
Eureka Heights Elementary School family all had great time at their back-to-school
open house held recently. New instructional technology was showcased, the
school looked amazing and everyone was excited for the new school year! Great
job to Principal Stacie Hall and to the entire faculty and staff.
TRUMAN HIGH SCHOOL DECA to hold Walk-A-Thon
Truman High
School DECA has teamed up with student council to host our first annual
Walk-A-Thon during homecoming week.
The event
will be October 10 with a rain date of Oct 11. Students need a minimum pledge
of $10 to participate in the event. Students will be given which hour they will
participate in the Walk-A-Thon.
While at
the Walk-A-Thon they will walk laps (with fun themes) on the track, fill
out their name on a link to make a big chain, visit the business expo and
network with other students.
The theme
for this event is "There's Unity in our Community.” Students will have a
chance to make money for their class/DECA while also participating in an event
that will help them be active, healthy, and involved. With combining
Truman and Kennedy we want to promote UNITY right from the start and get the
kids working together.
Attached is
the T-shirt sponsor form, vendor contract for business expo and our logo if
you or anyone you know (coaches, club advisors, organizations, charities,
entrepreneurs, and/or business owners) that may be interested in having a
booth at our event, or their name and logo on our shirt, please pass along.
We are also
looking for t-shirt sponsors, raffle basket donations, and food, water, and
fruit donations. We will offer the sponsors our tax ID number, letter
on letterhead for tax write off, name on our shirt and banner, name posted
on our social media, and name on our Truman DECA website.
This event
will be for Truman staff and students only and during school hours.
The pledge
sheets will go home to students and their families in the summer mailer but in
the fall if any kids say they need another one because they filled their sheet
up or lost theirs you can send them to their class advisor or DECA Director
Carly Lundgren-Barnard.

COACH SALUTES for player, who is now a teacher
Via Kennedy High School
basketball Coach Jeff Baum: Very proud to see one of the hardest working kids I
ever coached reach her goals of being a teacher. Even better at my son Chase's
school. Watched her hard work win a league championship, district championship,
become a starter at U-M Dearborn and get her teaching degree. Can't think
of a better role model for my children. Congratulations, Courtney Teets!
KINYON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL adds some beauty thanks to Home Depot
Home Depot joined forces with Kinyon Elementary
School for “Operation Face Lift.” Mrs. Danaj made the connection to Home Depot
and asked for help – and Behr Paints and Home Depot-donated paint, mulch,
flowers and materials were available for our crew to use.
The Harvey, Cone and Aguila families
came to help Kinyon teachers Rhonda Danaj, Sean O'Neill, Jennifer Rosiak,
Esther Compian, Greg Long, Susan Oswald and Angel Thomas.
Home Depot employees Todd and Pam
donated their time as well. Thank you all so very much, from the Kinyon Family!
