BLAIR MOODY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL second graders meet the mayor

Mayor Rick Sollars visited with second-graders from Blair Moody Elementary School on Friday, April 20, in the City Council Chambers at City Hall. The mayor shared some of his experiences and walked the students through the process of approving a "resolution" -- the only one that was voted down was a motion for more homework! Plenty of fun all around, as each pupil got a chance to sit in one of the seats on the dais and act out being a council member, clerk, treasurer or even the mayor.

BLAIR MOODY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL children welcomed at police department

Pupils from Blair Moody Elementary School received a neat tour of the Police Department on Friday, April 20, led by school liaison officers Hopper, Connor and Canning. This included a "briefing" in the patrol room; trying on the SWAT gear; a tour of the dispatch center and jail; and even an in-person tour of a couple of squad cars. The kids couldn't believe how much the SWAT gear weighed them down.
