RANDALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL hosts Kindergarten Celebration

The kindergarten classes at Randall Elementary School had an awesome “Kindergarten Celebration.”

The students played beanbag toss, blew bubbles, had a tug of war, raced scooters, tried a parachute game, and much more. It was a day of fun wrapping up their end of year time in kindergarten.

Mrs. Hatfield, Mrs. Holstein, Mrs. Jonassen and Mrs. Milley enjoyed having fun time, too!

MCDOWELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL says goodbye to Mrs. Osborne, a 44-year legend

How do you say goodbye to a McDowell Elementary School treasure?

It will be hard when second-grade teacher Mrs. Osborne retires. She started teaching in 1972 and taught every elementary grade but kindergarten. Her principals have included Mr. Hass, Mr. Olechowski, Mr. Burns, Ms. Vogler, Ms. Gebhardt, Mr. Joyce, Ms. Dyer, Ms. Sutton, Ms. Downie, Mr. Kunzi and her current principal Ms. Borg.

Here are some of Mrs. Osborne’s memorable moments:

1. My class was studying Japan and we wrote haiku poems and made Japanese parchment wall hangings of cherry blossoms. We invited all the parents for a Japanese tea and poetry reading. We ate with chopsticks.

2. At the end of my last presentation at the Michigan Reading Association Conference, I got a standing ovation. About 20 minutes later as I walked through the lobby of The Grand Hotel, I was surrounded by a group of teachers who applauded me again. Recognition by your peers? It doesn't get any better than that!

3. My book, "Rubrics for Elementary Assessment" had a five-star rating on Amazon.com for 15 years!

"I have had the good fortune of working with very dedicated teachers over these last 44 years and I will continue to advocate for public schools,” she said. “I've loved teaching and I'll miss everyone terribly."

You will be missed, Mrs. Osborne! The final applause you hear is from Talking Taylor Schools for a job well done!

MCDOWELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL kindergarteners pack the house!

Check out these amazing kindergarteners at McDowell Elementary School. This is a celebration with Mrs. Arndt, awesome music director, and their teachers, Ms. Bochenek and Mrs. Doll.

The children performed to a packed house of wonderful moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, aunties and uncles. They sure looked adorable and had their fill of juice and cookies after their performance.

MCDOWELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL produces the pretty music

It was another great concert at McDowell Elementary School, thanks in a big part to Mrs. Arndt.

Fourth and fifth graders were in the spotlight this time around, with a ‘50s theme. Their favorite song was "Splish, Splash, I was taking a Bath!"

MCDOWELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL clubs produce newspaper

The writing and drawing clubs at McDowell Elementary School recently put it some very hard work – and it paid off.  They produced a wonderful yearend edition of the "Extreme Dog" newspaper!

HOLLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL second-graders go to the dogs! (and cats and fish ...)

Ms. Danaj's second-grade class at Holland Elementary School recently had the most awesome "Show & Tell" ever recorded.

Welcome to Pet Day!
