TOMMIE SAYLOR: Schools are a reflection of the community's values

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”
Mother Teresa

A school is a reflection of the community.  It is not the cause of the problems or issues that the community may be experiencing; it is simply the focus point that often reveals those troubles.  When one explores a community school to reveal all the difficulties inside, they are placing a mirror before the community and reflecting back to their true selves.

It is no coincidence that strong schools are born from strong communities, ripe with positive parent involvement and community support.  When a sincere partnership is forged between the community and the school, when parents trust and believe that teachers are highly trained professionals employing their craft for the betterment of their kids, then greatness awaits their children within our halls.

It is through the sense of community that we come together to resolve the problems and difficulties that afflict us all.  It is through this same sense of community that schools are built to secure our children’s future, to prepare the younger generation to become tomorrow’s leaders, to become productive members of society.

Though the “heavy lifting” may be done in the classroom, it is only through the community’s support that will success will be found.

How and where will you lead them. Making Kennedy the school of choice. Excellence by design.
