HOOVER MIDDLE SCHOOL: How high is high?

Hoover Middle School’s seventh-grade scientists are building models to answer the question "How high is the atmosphere?"

Each graduated cylinder represents a column of air stretching from the surface of the Earth to space.  Each of the layers is represented by a different color.  The “scientists” compared the height of each layer to the others and discussed altitude, density, air pressure and temperatures.
