KENNEDY HIGH SCHOOL: Career in math adds up to some big numbers!

Did you know that a strong background in math can usually lead to a good job and a good salary? That's the message being sent home from Kennedy High School in the December edition of the "Eagle News."

The story is based on a Wall Street Journal report by Sarah Needleman, "Doing the math to find the good jobs." She points out that mathematician ranks No. 1 on the rankings of the best jobs in America.

Other top jobs include actuary, statistician, biologist, software engineer and computer-systems analyst -- all jobs that require a strong math background.

According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, which tracks college grads, the top 15 highest-earning college degrees all have a single thing in common -- math skills.

So, if you want to get paid and make a wonderful life for yourself and your family, you might want to sharpen up your No. 2 pencil and get to work.
