DON'T MISS YOUR CHANCE to name the new baby mini cows at the Petting Farm!

Everyone can name a “famous twosome” or iconic couple. From Adam and Eve to Abbott and Costello, we’ve had our share. But now you get an opportunity to name the next iconic couple, two miniature cows, a girl and boy, Taylor-style.

The Heritage Park Petting Farm are accepting nominations through January 31, and the City will announce the winning names in February.

Nominations must be submitted in person at Petting Farm, located on the corner of Northline Road and Pardee. Every nomination turned in will receive a complimentary pass for “Celebrate Spring,” in April, one of the facility’s marquee events. Nominations are limited to one suggestion per person.

The winner will be announced in early February and will receive an annual Family Pass to the Petting Farm, good for admission to farm for a full year and includes all special events. The winners name will also be displayed in barn, along the new names of the cows.

The entire campaign kicked off with the “Mini Baby Cows” debut January 13.

“While many of the farms’ residents are rescue animals, the mini cows give the farm a unique opportunity to offer the thousands of elementary school children that visit the farm each year,” said Melanie Shihadeh, manager of the facility. “These children from the City of Taylor and surrounding cities in southeast Michigan a chance to actually be able to walk up, touch, and interact with cows during their visit.”

Miniature cattle are the perfect animal for small acreage farms. According to experts in the field, they require one-third the feed of standard size animals. Because of their small size, miniature cattle can be handled easily and efficiently without the need for special equipment or special fencing.  They are perfect for … the Heritage Park Petting Farm.

“Heritage Park Petting Farm is a unique urban farm,” Shihadeh said. “Many children that visit from all of southeast Michigan have little or no exposure to farm animals. These mini cows are the perfect size for children that are experiencing these animals for the first time.”
