TAYLOR SUMMER ACADEMY accepting applications for elementary and middle schoolers

The Taylor Summer Academy, a free summer program, is going to be held at Kennedy High School from July 11-29 at Kennedy High School.

Research has shown that children will lose ground when it comes to their academic progress over the summer. It is know as the "summer slide." One way to help combat this loss is through continued learning in the summer months. The children in the Taylor School District have the opportunity to attend the Taylor Summer Academy. Your child will have fun learning new concepts and gaining new experiences.

The Taylor School District's State and Federal Programs is proud to offer our students enrichment classes this summer. The Taylor Summer Academy has a variety of classes for students going into grades 2-8 in the fall. There is something for everyone's interests.
Class themes include: art, travel, games, author studies, writing & illustrating, hands-on science, animal studies, nutrition & fitness, and much more.

The Taylor Summer Academy is open to all students who are enrolled in the Taylor School District. There is no charge for this program. It is funded through Title I.

Free transportation is available to students enrolled in the Taylor School District as well. However, transportation will not be provided to students who are school of choice from outside the district. Students will also receive free breakfast and lunch on the days that they attend the program.

Registration is underway. Students should have received the enrollment information from school and brought it home. If you have not received an application and you would like to get one, you can contact your child's school, come to the State and Federal Programs' office room 204, or download and print the appropriate application at the bottom of this page.

Registration is going on now through May 26. Classes fill up quickly, so get your application in early. After you fill out the application and before the end of the school year, you will receive your enrollment packet.

If you have any question please contact Nannette Kuhn, Title I Parent Facilitator at (313) 295-5749.
