Literacy and Language Luau on tap Wednesday at Kennedy High School
The "Literacy and Language Luau" -- a "can't-miss" event in the Taylor School District -- is set for Wednesday (April 17) at Kennedy High School.
The large-scale family project, sponsored by the Title 1 Parenting Facilitators in the system, is open to anyone interested in literacy, although it has a heavy elementary school focus. Students and families will have the opportunity to learn more about the community and services available to them. Various local agencies will have tables there manned by personnel to discuss various literacy issues.
The luau-themed event will feature face painting, Ronald McDonald, free popcorn, balloon animals, prizes and giveaways. Books can be purchased for children from the Scholastic Book Fair.
Doors will be open between 4:30-7:30 p.m. Family workshops are scheduled from 5:30 and 6:15 (and will be closed when full).
