May
9, 2019, will go down in history as one of the most memorable days for five
wonderful young ladies from West Middle School.
They
attended Stem Savvy 2019, held at Wayne County Community College. This stem
conference was sponsored by the AAUW – Wyandotte – Downriver Branch.
The
students in attendance were Estrella Chacon, Destiny Sayles, Abigail Owusu,
Gabriella Henderson and Kassi Glenn.
The
students had an opportunity to hear two speakers who encouraged them to DREAM
BIG. The students also attended three workshops. The workshops focused on
Biohazard Containment, Bee Biology, Art Meets Mindfulness, Chemistry, Ergonomic
Engineering and Gene Sequencing. The students were also treated to a delicious
lunch.
We
sincerely thank the AAUW members for their commitment, time and effort that
went into motivating and inspiring our girls to reach their fullest potential,
even if the journey does not always take a straight path.
