TAYLOR HIGH SCHOOL DECA highly successful at EMU

(See all the awardees at the bottom of this thread, under the photos.)

The Taylor High School DECA chapter had 47 students compete at the district competition at Eastern Michigan University on Friday Jan. 11 and Marketing Department Head Carly Lundgren Barnard could not be prouder of them.

Students compete in different categories and have the opportunity to win medals for top test score, top role-play score and overall state finalist (top score combining test and role play).

Taylor DECA won 25 medals with 14 students advancing to state competition with role-plays, and 21 students advancing to state competition with written event presentation projects. A total of 35 students will be representing Taylor at the DECA State Career Development Conference in March 2019.

Taylor DECA also had three internationally qualifying marketing campaigns. DECA is now selling Little Caesars Pizza kits to help cover the costs of state competition, so see a DECA member if interested in ordering.

DECA wants to thank Mary Rita Zalewski, Shayna Hale, Ashley Mckenzie, Stephen Weatherholt, alumni Amario Massey, alumni Dominick Brock, Chelsea Fell from Advantage One Credit Union and Jennifer Lundgren from Quicken Loans for coming as chaperones and/or judges.

Also, they want to thank the administration, board office, transportation and our staff for all their support. Without them the club could never have done as well as it did.
