On
November 3 over 100 West Middle School band students attended the Detroit
Symphony Orchestra. The 50-minute performance was titled “Musical Heroes.” The
concert began with the theme song to the movie “Superman.”
From Superman to Beethoven, Shostakovich and more, this program explored
musical heroes, superheroes and even everyday heroes. It was a tribute to
the challenges they overcame to produce the most courageous sounds in the
history of music.
The students thoroughly enjoyed this performance. It was exciting to see
musicians of this caliber share their talent and passion with the audience. To
be in the beauty of Orchestra Hall for this event is a memory the students will
carry with them for a very, very long time.
