KROGER MAKES $5,000 donation to schools

Kroger held a grand re-opening Wednesday, June 29, in Taylor. And among those to benefit were the Taylor Schools.

During the grand re-opening ceremonies, Kroger donated $2,500 each to Kennedy and Truman high schools. New Supt. Ben Williams, outgoing Supt. Diane Allen and principals Melissa Skopczynski and Tommie Saylor were on hand.

The store is located on Ecorse Road and Monroe. It now showcases an $8.8 million dollar investment, which includes one of Michigan Kroger's largest floral departments and an on-site fuel center.

"We believe customers will be pleased with the updated store and added products and services, including a greatly expanded produce department," store manager Jim Fox told Click On Detroit earlier this week. "The shopping environment is colorful and attractive and conveniences such as new checkouts enhance the customer experience."

The crowd also included other elected officials and Mayor Rick Sollars, who addressed the crowd.

“Hey, this is my Kroger, too,” he told the crowd, drawing applause. “My family shops here.”

Detroit Tigers’ mascot Paws was in attendance, as was Miss Chiquita Banana.

Other store amenities include:
  • Sushi bar
  • Kitchen Place
  • Toy center
  • Expanded deli station
  • Expanded pet department
  • Single serve station at bakery
  • Pharmacy with a drive-thru window
  • Craft beer and single serve adult beverages

In July, the store will introduce ClickList which is an online grocery ordering service.
