SIXTH GRADE ACADEMY students make special visit to Holocaust Center

The students in Ms. Evans' world language class at the Sixth Grade Academy went on a field trip to the Holocaust Memorial Center in Southfield.

Ms. Evans received a grant from Target that enabled her to take 100 students for a guided tour of the Holocaust Memorial.  Students were shown several exhibits explaining the holocaust.

After the tour they were able to hear from  Holocaust survivor, Paula Marks-Bolton.

“When I speak to groups,” says Paula Marks-Bolton, “I stress tolerance, respect and love for each other and I tell them to speak up whenever there may be injustice, prejudice or hatred.”

She spoke to the students about her life before, during and after the Holocaust. The students were very moved by all she had to say.
