Once
a week each Thursday at Blair Moody Elementary School, Ms. Hughes’ kindergarten
class unites with their fifth-grade heroes.
The
“Buddy System” not only provides an opportunity for younger children to learn
from their older peers, but it also builds friendships, teaches valuable
lessons, provides leadership, responsibility and gives both sides a chance to
grow and shine.
In
the “Buddy System,” each kindergartner is assigned a fifth-grade buddy who
provides assistance with reading and writing projects. Buddies love teaching
and helping their adoring sidekicks, and in turn, the sidekicks love all of the
individual attention and guidance.
It’s
a win-win situation that shows just how much you can achieve with a little help
from your friends!
