On
May 26, the Ford Astronomy Club visited the West Middle School eighth-grade
science classes.
They
brought with them a variety of telescopes. One member brought with her a collection
of meteorites. Even though at times the sky was cloud covered the majority of
students were able to view the sun, sunspots and even solar gases.
Club
members discussed safety precautions that should be taken when looking at the
sun. They also gave helpful tips on what to look for when purchasing a
telescope for the first time.
After
the presentation students had a better understanding of how meteorites were
formed. Everyone agreed that the event was a huge success.
