RANDALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL a hotbed of activity during reading month

March is Reading Month at Randall Elementary School was a terrific event this year. Randall again participated in “One School One Book” where everyone from students to all staff read the same book. The book this year was “Charlotte’s Web.”

Every night a chapter was read and the next morning pupils were asked a trivia question pertaining to that chapter.

Students read all month and kept track of how many minutes they read outside of school on bookmarks that were turned in weekly. The top readers were announced and everyone who participated received a Texas Roadhouse free kids meal and a bracelet that read “Reading is my super power”.

Randall students read a total of 144,523 minutes outside of school.

Throughout the month Randall had days where it participated in celebrating reading. It had a family night with our book fair open for parents; Hats off to Reading: wear a hat; Score Big with Books: wear sports shirt or jersey; Read a Shirt Day: words on a shirt; Randall Loves Reading: wear school colors; Dress as your Favorite Book Character day.

Randall also had guest readers where we enjoyed listening to them read to us.

To end our celebration and to go along with the theme of Charlotte’s Web, we had Upland Farm come to our school with live animals.  Randall School Loves Reading!
