The
Taylor Public School Foundation for Educational Excellence is a non-profit
independent organization of volunteers committed to enriching the educational
environment of the Taylor School District.
Established
in 1986 through an endowed gift from a local resident, the Foundation strives
to maintain and enhance the excellent reputation of the district by building a
broad base of financial support.
Mark
Shobe, president and CEO of DFCU Financial, said discussed the Taylor location
and the Downriver marketplace in a recent News-Herald Newspapers interview.
“The
Taylor market has always been a good market for us,” Shobe said, adding that
DFCU Financial currently serves more than 5,000 member households in the Taylor
area.
In
addition to Taylor, DFCU Financial also will be opening new branches in Clinton
Township, Birmingham and Ann Arbor.
The
Taylor location will be the credit union’s second in the Downriver area, having
opened a Riverview branch roughly 10 years ago.
“We’re
a 65 year-old-company, but we have grown significantly, and today we’re at
nearly $4 billion in assets,” Shobe said. “We have 25 locations from Detroit to
Grand Rapids, but some things really make us different like we’re a
mutually-held structure and we pay dividends out to our members.”
