KENNEDY HIGH SCHOOL establishing national reputation

Kennedy High School

Back in 2014 when Kennedy High School received a Bronze Badge from U.S. News & World Report for being in the top 25 percent of schools in the nation with our demographics for making academic gains, I was ecstatic.

I could not imagine John F. Kennedy High School being nationally ranked, nationally recognized, a once-in-a-lifetime experience; educationally it was like winning the Super Bowl or World Series.

In 2015 when the tradition continued, I was honored.  The only school in the Downriver community to earn such an honor for two consecutive years.  Don’t get me wrong, others also received such recognition, but not for two consecutive years.

Along with this feeling came the inevitable foreboding: Is this the end?  Will our streak of educational recognition, our national ranking end with two consecutive years?

Then it happened, for the third consecutive year, an accomplishment not seen by any school in the Downriver area, Kennedy High School has been awarded a Bronze Badge from U.S. News & World Report.

Once is great, twice is amazing, but three consecutive years is a dynasty.  A tradition of excellence that has been born here in Taylor.

Though we may often disagree, fight, and banter back and forth, we are all passionately fighting for the same goal; that which is best for our students.  I have never been more proud to work with such a team of professionals than the staff of Kennedy High School.

How and where will you lead them. Making Kennedy the school of choice. Excellence by design….
