Hoover
Middle School was given the opportunity to take a small group of seventh-
and eighth-grade female students to a workshop – Building STEM Savvy in Middle
School Girls.
The
goal of this workshop was to increase female student interest in the areas of Science,
Technology, Engineering and Math.
It
was organized by the American Association of University Women
Wyandotte/Downriver Branch and took place at Wayne County Community College
District Downriver Campus.
Students
were able to attend three breakout sessions with presentations and hands-on
experiences in areas such as Biomedical Research, Mechanical Engineering,
Chemical Engineering, Architecture, Ecology, and more. The students were
excited after the STEM workshop and wanted to share their experiences with
family and friends.
