The
National Prayer Day Celebration was held in the Cameron Priebe Plaza in front
of City Hall Thursday at noon and included students choruses and an
administrator from the Taylor School District.
Performing
during the ceremony were the UAW Region 1A Honor Guard, a combined chorus of
Kennedy and Truman high school students and Gilead Baptist Church singer Jack
Smith.
Featured
speakers included Pastor Phillip Nissley (New Hope Assembly of God); Bishop
Gary Harper (Greater Grace Temple); Pastor Chris Weathers, Harvest Worship
Center); Pastor Thomas Downs (Gilead Baptist); Phil Matous, president of Total
Community Credit Union; Paster John Reilly (Beacon Bapist); Mayor Rick Sollars;
City Treasurer Edward Bourassa; Taylor School District Assistant Supt. Teresa
Winnie; Pastor Josh Scroggins (Taylor Christian Center); Paster Ryan Bettinger
(Northline Baptist); Bishop A.J. Andre (Heritage Park Church of God); Dr.
Geoffrey Drutchas (St. Paul United); Pastor Bill Fix (Journey of Hope); Father
Leo Sabourin (St. Constance); Rose Femminineo (Wayne County Right to Life); and
Chaplain Dennis Cole (Oakwood Hospital-Taylor).
Approximately
150 people attended the noon event.
