The
Taylor Summer Academy, a free summer program, is going to be held at Hoover
Middle School from June 23 - July 17.
Research
has shown that children will lose ground when it comes to their academic
progress over the summer. It is know as the "summer slide." One
way to help combat this loss is through continued learning in the summer
months. The children in the Taylor School District have the opportunity
to attend the Taylor Summer Academy. Your child will have fun learning
new concepts and gaining new experiences.
The
Taylor School District's State and Federal Programs is proud to offer students
enrichment classes this summer. The Taylor Summer Academy has a variety
of classes for students going into grades 2-8 in the fall. There is something
for everyone's interests.
Class
themes include: art, travel, games, author studies, writing &
illustrating, hands-on science, solving mysteries, animal studies, nutrition
& fitness, and much more. There will be two separate sessions offered
with two classes each. Your child can take up to four classes total if
they choose to attend both sessions.
The
Taylor Summer Academy is open to all students who are enrolled in the Taylor
School District. There is no charge for this program. It is funded
through Title I. Free transportation will be provided to students enrolled
in the Taylor School District, as well. Your child will be assigned a bus
color and picked up at an assigned bus stop. However, transportation will
not be provided to students who are school of choice from outside the district.
Students will also receive free breakfast and lunch on the days that they
attend the program.
Registration
is going on now. Students should have received the enrollment application
from school and brought it home. If you have not received an application
and you would like to get one, you can contact your child's school, come to the
State and Federal Programs' office room 204, or download and print the
application at the bottom of this page.
Registration
is going on now through May 22nd. Classes fill up fast so get your
application in early. After you fill out the application and before the end of
the school year, you will receive your enrollment packet. In this packet
you will get an emergency card to fill out, a release form to fill out, a list
of your child's classes, and, if your elected to use the provided
transportation, your child's assigned bus stop.

you have any question please contact Nannette Kuhn, Title I Parent Facilitator
