The
West Middle School Marching Band marched in two parades on consecutive days in
November to mark the beginning of the holiday season.
The
first was the Allen Park Christmas Parade, a nighttime affair, which allowed
the band members to decorate their instruments with Christmas lights. It made
for quite a sight as they came down the dark streets all aglow.
The
second parade, the Wyandotte Christmas Parade, was held in downtown Wyandotte
the next morning at 10 a.m. Students marched just over a mile down Biddle
Avenue, again showing off their decorated instruments, as they entertained the
enthusiastic crowd.
Hand
warmers and layered clothing were the order of the day for both parades.
Participating in these parades gave the band students a chance to show off
their skill as young musicians and represent the West Middle School and the
Taylor School District.
