PROGRAM WILL PROMOTE personal emergency preparedness

The Taylor CERT Program will be working alongside the Taylor Fire Department to bring area residents PEP (Personal Emergency Preparedness) Talks.

These will take place once a month and cover a range of topics from putting out fires and Home Safety to Sheltering in Place and Pet/Service Animal Response.  PEP Talks are FREE of charge to anyone who would like to learn something new.

“PEP Talks with Taylor CERT will be "town hall" style discussions about comprehensive preparedness.  Preparedness is the shared responsibility of all levels of government, the private and nonprofit sectors and individual citizens.

In 2009, a Citizens Corps National survey found that 29-percent of Americans have not prepared because they think emergency responders will help and over 60-percent expect to rely on emergency responders within the first 72 hours following a disaster.  In a disaster, first responders and emergency workers may not be able to reach everyone right away.  In addition, providers may not be able to restore critical services, such as power, immediately.

The purpose of PEP Talks with Taylor CERT is to promote personal and community preparedness through engaging activities for individuals, neighbors, or households.  These "talks" are like building blocks. You can mix-and-match the "talks" that are best for you and your household.”

Where to find more information: All PEP Talk topics are listed at www.taylorcert.org. You may also find them on all Taylor CERT social media platforms. (IG, Facebook, Twitter)  Participants MUST register with Taylor CERT on their website to keep an accurate count of who will be coming each month as seating can be limited.

Other Information: Taylor CERT is also offering CPR & First Aid Training (AHA) in 2018 along with Emergency Medical Response training (NSC) starting in January.  Pricing, times and dates can be found on the Taylor CERT Programs website.
