WEST MIDDLE SCHOOL: Interest in Ancient Egypt goes in leaps and bounds

After completing the READ 180 workshop on Ancient Egypt, West Middle School students in Erica Bazman-Smith’s class expressed that they wanted to learn more about it.

One of the three readings in the workshop was how the pyramids were made. The class decided to create pyramids out of sugar cubes.

Another project was going to discoveringegypt.com where there was a hieroglyphic typewriter. The students went on the iPads to this site where they could type in their name to see the hieroglypic translation. From there, they created nameplates out of the hieroglyphics.
