TAYLOR SCHOOLS Excel at Sudden Cardiac Emergency Readiness

Wayne County received 14 MI HEARTSafe Schools awards on October 12, 2016 and Taylor Schools represented nine of those 14 awards.

To receive this designation, schools must follow several rules including performing at least one cardiac drill per year; have a written medical emergency response plan and team; have CPR/AED certification for at least 10 percent of the staff; have accessible AED, 100 percent of head varsity coaches, and 50 percent of P.E. staff; have accessible, properly maintained and inspected AEDs with signs identifying their location; and ensure pre-participation sports screening of all student athletes using the current physical and history form endorsed by the Michigan High School Athletic Association.

Taylor School Nurses held multiple CPR/AED classes throughout the school 2015-16 year and were able to certify over 100 TSD staff members.

Deb Duquette from Michigan Department of Health and Human Services states, “Taylor School District is amazing with the most school buildings awarded than any other school district this year. Congratulations!”
