On
Monday, state Senator Hoon-Yung Hopgood spoke to West Middle School’s eighth
grade social studies students.
Senator
Hopgood spoke on a variety of topics. Since his father was involved in
politics, the senator was immersed in the political process as a youngster. The
senator is very hopeful that President Donald Trump will move the country
forward.
Senator
Hopgood also informed the students that every election is important. He said
that any representative affects many aspects of each citizen's life by the laws
they enact during their tenure.
He
believes that the two big issues facing our elected representatives during 2017
are affordable health care and education advancements.
West
students and staff are indebted to Senator Hopgood for his service to our
community and appreciate his visit to the school to answer students' questions
and concerns.
