Taylor
School District Supt. Ben Williams joins the City of Taylor Podcast this week.
Williams, Mayor Rick Sollars and Karl Ziomek join host Dr. Paul Reeves in a
discussion of the important Taylor School District School Improvement Bond.
The
bond, 0.96 mills annually over five years, could generate $1.19M per year over
the course of the bond. Those funds would be limited for the following uses:
buy new school buses, improve and upgrade buildings, and to purchase new
technology. As Supt. Williams points out, these funds cannot be used for
salaries, etc.
Also
discussed is a Wayne County RESA enhancement millage, also on the November
ballot. These issues, while separate, would each bring additional educational
dollars to Taylor. The county levy would raise 2 mills for six years, with
$2.6M of that going directly to the Taylor Schools.
