The
Hoover Middle School newspaper recently inducted its third member to the school’s
new Hall of Fame. The Hoover Hawks’ newspaper staff first interviews the
inductees, and then they are photographed and honored with a plaque hanging in
the main hallway of the building.
Hoover
graduate Hoon-Yung Hopgood is a member of the Michigan State Senate. He is a
Democrat and a former member of the Michigan State House of Representatives. He
represents roughly half of the cities that make up the Downriver area of Metro
Detroit, as well as other cities in Wayne County.
He
is also the first Korean American to hold state office in Michigan.
Hoopgood’s
induction follows that of Shirley Ledford (Eldridge), a registered nurse, and
Mayor Rick Sollars.
