KINYON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL donated holiday baskets
Kinyon Elementary School handed out 44 Thanksgiving baskets recently!
Thirty were donated by BOS Auto Parts and the remainder were donated by two
local families.
RANDALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL flies high with Red Wings
The
Detroit Red Wings School Assembly Program, along with support from Saint Joseph
Mercy Health System and the MESP Michigan Education Savings Program, visited
Randall Elementary School on November 9.
This
program is a great way to get students actively moving; learn about the
importance of healthy living; and about the great sport of hockey through the
partnership with the Detroit Red Wings.
Healthy
eating habits and exercise were discussed. Most of all students were
excited about a shoot off complete with goalie gear between five
teachers and five students.
In
our first assembly the teachers won 1-0. The second assembly the students won
2-0.
Randall
School was given a banner for being an official 2017-18 participant. Many
thanks to the Detroit Red Wings for visiting.
RANDALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: It's all about musical terms
Randall
Elementary School ELA enrichment students are learning musical terms through
use of word search, bingo and vocabulary lists.
WEST MIDDLE SCHOOL offers the seven wonders!
“The
Seven Wonders of West”
Yes,
West Middle School is proud to announce the “Seven Wonders of West,” not to be
confused with the Seven Wonders of the World!
In
October, Chineme, C. J., Jackson, Ryanne, Natalia, Lexie, and Nick auditioned
for the Detroit Symphony Youth Concert Band and were accepted.
Students
had to audition by playing a prepared piece and sight read a new piece. The
students will rehearse in the Max M. Fisher Music Center on Saturday mornings
and will end their semester with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in May with a
concert.
The
staff, administration, and one ecstatic band director, in particular, are so
very proud of these hard- working, dedicated musicians.
WEST MIDDLE SCHOOL: Kennedy -Truman band performs
“It’s
All In The Family.”
On
Friday, Nov. 10, students from the Kennedy/Truman Marching Band, under the
direction of Andrea Bonner, performed for students at West Middle School.
The
band, which received a First Division rating at the MSBOA competition,
performed their half time show “One City One Band” for the eighth-grade
students.
At
the end of the program, students from the West Marching Band joined the high
school band and performed the theme from the movie “Batman.”
West
students and teachers always look forward to this concert. One exciting part of
this year’s concert was watching siblings from different bands perform with one
another. Yes, brothers and sisters really can get along!
TAYLOR PARKS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL kids turn rock stars
Taylor
Parks Elementary School students are now rock stars!
With
inspiration gathered from the best seller, “Only One You,” by Linda
Krantz, Taylor Parks students took part in their monthly PBiS celebration
by painting rocks to express their own unique personalities.
In
the book, the author explains through her characters how children can in their
own way, and make a difference in not only their own lives but in the
lives of those around them.
Also,
a big thank you once again to community partner D&L Garden Center for their
kind donation of the rocks.
