It
is that time of the year again. A time when you arrive to work in the dark, go
home in the dark and between the two the skies are overcast and gray.
Because
of the cold, we spend most of our day inside, cooped up, getting on each other’s
nerves, tempers short, moods in the doldrums and finding it harder and harder
to self-motivate and do that which needs to be done … AKA, the winter blues.
So,
how do we combat the winter blues? You don’t, you just keep moving forward. You
immerse yourself in routine, remain vigilant to those things that are
essential, and attack your goals with fidelity. Lean on each other when
needed, and keep in mind that the students are experiencing the same
melancholy. Before you know it, the snow will melt away, the skies will
clear, and the warmth of spring will be upon us.
