WEST MIDDLE SCHOOL pupils learn about food chains

Who eats whom? That is the question that West Middle School sixth-grade science students in Mrs. Fent's class answered when they learned about food chains and food webs.

After watching an interesting Powerpoint presentation on the subject, the students shared what they learned with one another. This was followed by an interactive activity of forming several food chains, which equated to one large food web.

To reinforce learning, the students drew diagrams of food chains and a food web. They remembered that all food webs begin with the sun and contain producers, consumers and decomposers.

Stay tuned as we learn more about adaptations in our ecosystems.

ROBOTICS TEAM helps out at Santa's Magic Forest (more photos)

The Robotics Team helped start the set up for Santa’s Magic Forest on Saturday, October 4. They worked with volunteers from the Downriver Fish & Loaves Food Pantry to set up the Santa's Village at Heritage Park Activity Center.

Santa's Magic Forest is a fundraiser for Fish & Loaves.  The Robotics Team members will be going back to help for at least the next two Saturdays until all the figurines and lights are set up.  On a side note, the animated figurines and displays were donated from the Hudson’s Christmas display at the Downtown Detroit Hudson's location and are over 70 years old.
