MCDOWELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL celebrates Native Americans
McDowell
Elementary School's fifth-grade class has been celebrating Native Americans.
Here are a few of the great projects Mr. Tomassion's students have created.
RANDALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL third graders opt for Clinton
Randall
Elementary School third-grade pupils used electronic voting machines from
Scholastic to cast their votes for president.
This
followed many weeks of learning about the democratic process, who can be
president and facts about Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
The
final tally was 43 for Mrs. Clinton and 24 for Mr. Trump.
RANDALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Players get in the swing of things
Randall
Players, the after-school enrichment program at Randall Elementary School, has
begun early this year.
At
the beginning, students use cooperation, teamwork and ideas to become a better
drama player.
Here
students are making a house without talking using only their bodies.
Designed to promote teamwork and using gestures instead of words to convey
feelings. Students were also collaborating on how to make a king
cobra.
West
Middle School student Hannah Cox and Kennedy High School student Maddie
Heidenreich are helping us out this year. This year’s performance will be
in February.
RANDALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL pupils receive help in technology
Mrs.
Cahalan’s third grade is learning technology with Mrs. Morford at Randall
Elementary School. Mrs. Morford is a Michigan State University graduate and is
taking technology/computer classes at Henry Ford Community College. Everyone
loves her help! Mrs. Morford comes on Monday afternoons.
RANDALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL fifth-graders get hallways in the right mood
Mrs.
Heidenreich's fifth-grade students at Randall Elementary School always have
outstanding art hanging in the hall by their classroom.
Every
holiday or event you can find something pertaining to what is going on. During
the Halloween season you could find "screamers" and monsters. Mrs.
Patts the librarian loved the monsters so much she is framing some for the
library.
The
next event of course was the election. Flags were flying high outside this fifth-grade
hall. Of course, we can't forget the turkeys for Thanksgiving made on graph
paper.
Great
job students!
WEST MIDDLE SCHOOL band visits DSO
On
November 3 over 100 West Middle School band students attended the Detroit
Symphony Orchestra. The 50-minute performance was titled “Musical Heroes.” The
concert began with the theme song to the movie “Superman.”
From Superman to Beethoven, Shostakovich and more, this program explored
musical heroes, superheroes and even everyday heroes. It was a tribute to
the challenges they overcame to produce the most courageous sounds in the
history of music.
The students thoroughly enjoyed this performance. It was exciting to see
musicians of this caliber share their talent and passion with the audience. To
be in the beauty of Orchestra Hall for this event is a memory the students will
carry with them for a very, very long time.
