UPDATED: BLAIR MOODY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL students learn about MLK (photo added)

Mrs. Michaelis' second graders at Blair Moody Elementary School learned about Martin Luther King all week.  

They learned how he helped change the world by using peace and not violence.  They made personalized “worlds” to remind people that they need to continue to love and not hate, especially with all the troubles in the world right now. 

JOHNSON EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER hosts Wyandotte Clayworks

Wyandotte Clayworks came to Johnson Early Childhood Center recently. The children molded and shaped the clay and created their own masterpieces. In two weeks Pete Bovee from Clayworks will return with the baked creations so that the children can paint and glaze them.

MCDOWELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL'S new carpet makes its debut

McDowell Elementary School kindergartners are the lucky recipients of a beautiful rug from the Donors Choose Program.

Students are reading and enjoying their new space on the carpet. One little boy said as he curled up with a good book that he even forgot that he was at school.

Ms. Bochenek always tells them, "Books take you places!" They sure are going to enjoy their new carpet.

SIXTH GRADE ACADEMY students find that its OK2SAY

Students at the Sixth Grade Academy attended a presentation given by Mrs. Jodi Speck from the Michigan Attorney General's office  called “OK2SAY.”

“OK2SAY” is a program designed to encourage Michigan students to share and respond to anything that threatens their safety or the safety of others. With support from Attorney General Bill Schuette, the Michigan State Police, local law enforcement, schools, the health community and many others, there are processes in place that help students submit confidential tips regarding criminal activities or harmful behavior.

Students can confidentially submit tips 24/7 via mobile app, online at www.ok2say.com, by texting 652729 (OK2SAY), or by calling 855-565-2729. 

During the 2014-15 school year, the first year of “OK2SAY,” more than 1,400 tips were submitted.  “OK2SAY” is making a difference for Michigan’s greatest resource – its students.

RANDALL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Student Council takes the lead

Randall Elementary School’s Student Council set up the last week before break with some fun days. . 

Monday was “Crazy Hair Day.” Then Tuesday  was “Dress as Your Favorite Christmas Character.” 


Wednesday was “Pajama Day” and
Thursday was “Snow Day.”

Finally,
with Friday came “Wear Red, Green & White” day.  

Wednesday was also the day the PTA had a movie and popcorn event for the students, who sold items in the school fundraiser. Students brought their blankets to lay on and were already wearing pajamas to watch the “Minion Movie.”
