The
Taylor Garden Club and the Taylor Rotary combined with the Taylor School
District to plant a pair of new trees in front of Truman High School for Arbor
Day.
The
Cleveland Select Pear trees were part of a salute to what will be the new
Taylor High School this fall. The Garden Club’s Delores Chorkaluk, former City
employee and City Council member, explained that over time, many different
groups and individuals planted trees around Truman, and the club wanted to
celebrate the special day by making a similar donation.
The
Garden Club purchased one of the trees, the Rotary the other. Erin Dobbins
represented the Rotary.
Truman
students and staff handled the heavy lifting and planting, including Principal
Melissa Skopczynski, who will be the new school’s principal this fall.
