Taylor
High School Marketing/DECA students held its annual prom fashion show on
February 22. The marketing students worked hard all month to plan, organize,
market, promote, sell and decorate for the show.
They
worked in the community with local businesses Men’s Wearhouse and David’s
Bridal as vendors for the show.
The
show was a huge success. State DECA Executive Board President campaign
candidate Nate Jacobs, from Lincoln Park, attended and helped open the show
with Mrs. Lundgren. The show had 20 male and 20 female models wearing the
latest fashions for prom season.
Vheena
Villareal opened the show singing the National Anthem beautifully. Seniors
Karizma Melendez and Evan Waller were MCs for the show and performed wonderfully.
Taylor
alumni and former DECA King Austin Gignac came back to crown our 2019 king and
queen, Karizma Melendez and Mohammad Monet. Other court members were Marissa
Ogea, Sana Abedi, Vhenna Villareal, Evan Waller, Anthony Mohlman, and Sylvester
Grant.
Xavier
Bailey was voted best dressed. Big shout out to Chris Sherry who helped with
music and choreography.
The
show also featured a surprise “prom-posal” and a glorious finale. Students in attendance received $50 off
coupons from David’s Bridal and $40 off coupons from Men’s Wearhouse.
The
theme for the show and this year’s prom is Gods and Goddesses. Prom will be May
9 at Crystal Gardens. Everyone looks forward to an amazing “senior” season
coming up!
Thanks
to administration and staff for allowing the marketing students to use the
skills and curriculum they learned in class and put towards real life
experience. They learned a great deal and are very thankful. The money made at
the show will go toward taking the kids who qualified for International Career
Development Conference to Orlando, Florida.
