Eureka Heights' children take trip to conservatory
Pupils at Eureka Heights Elementary School recently traveled to the Taylor Conservatory & Botanical Garden at Heritage Park.
The fourth-graders attended the field trip June 3 and enjoyed an afternoon learning about bees, making lotion and tasting honey.
The conservatory is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization that was incorporated in 2005. Its mission is to create beautiful public spaces, promoting the arts and sciences and preserving out natural environment. The group promote positive, community outcomes with its programs designed for a multitude of social, educational and environmental needs.
The conservatory fulfills its mission by inspiring people to enhance the quality of their surroundings through cultivation and enjoyment of flora and the arts; educating children and adults with programs designed in a fun, interactive and informative way; promoting a beautiful and hospitable setting for the delight and inspiration of the public; promoting food security through community-garden development and education; and increasing public awareness about the fragility of our natural environment and providing information about ways to conserve and protect it.
The Taylor Conservatory & Botanical Gardens offers a large schedule of activities -- many for free or nominal fees -- during the summer months.
