TAYLOR ROBOTIC lends a hand with Santa's Magic Forest preparations
EDITOR’S NOTE: The TNT Robotics Team was one of
many groups involved in volunteering to prepare for the 2017 Santa’s Magic
Forest, outlined here in a News-Herald Newspapers’ story by Dave Herndon.
Despite a warmer than normal fall, and it only
being October, one of Downriver’s destination must-see holiday displays is
already being built for the season.
A group of volunteers met at the Activity
Building inside Taylor’s Heritage Park Oct. 7 and started to build the sets
that will become Santa’s Magic Forest for the 2017 holiday season.
SPORTS SOURCE MEDIA story tracks the rough ride of Kennedy's Homecoming King
EDITOR'S NOTE: Great
story here by Seth Walker of Sports Source Media, tracking the trails and
tribulations of KHS Homcoming King Conner Zschunke.
Taylor,
Michigan- It was homecoming 2017, the final homecoming ever at John F. Kennedy
High School where alumni from all eras congregated one more time at Sclater
Stadium. They were able to watch the final homecoming king and queen
crowned before the school closes its doors for good after this school
year. Every homecoming king and queen has a story, and here you will
learn about the story of the king.
Conner
Zschunke is a senior middle linebacker for the football team. It may
sound cliché, but at first glimpse, he may look like any other high school
student. However, Zschunke has battle scars, the type that you can’t
exactly see.
You
see, this young man who wears number 55 on the football field was on his death
bed a couple of months ago.
TRUMAN HIGH SCHOOL 2017 Homecoming Court
Truman
High School hosted crosstown rival Kennedy Friday night for the final time in
their city rivalry and it was homecoming at Truman. There was a short parade
before the game. The nominees for the homecoming king and queen were are (top, front
row) Tomi Da Silva, Tara Bailey , Sarah Woolley, Mackenzie Raboczkay, Andrea
Sauceda and Melissa Abraham. In the back row are Michael Fletcher, , Ethan
Jarrell, Chase Nester, Anthony Sauceda, Dustin Rideout and Jeremy Locklear. Woolley
was named homecoming queen and Fletcher homecoming king.
DECA UNITY IN OUR COMMUNITY WALKATHON a big success
What
an amazing day the "UNITY in our Community" team had at its recent walk-a-thon.
Kennedy and Truman DECA students worked together to host the first annual event.
They
had all age groups out there to welcome the new merged Truman/Kennedy freshman –
a great practice for next year when the schools fully merge.
Students
were exposed to vendor tables of groups from the school, community businesses and
more. Students signed our “strive for safe driving pledge” and were given water
donated by Saturn Marketplace and granola bars donated by A-lot Sealcoat & Striping.
They were also given a T-shirt with the local businesses in the community who
helped sponsor the events.
Amy
Wagel from Fierce Fitness lead our dance laps and students had a blast.
Truman
and Kennedy DECA Presidents Sara Sherazi and Dominick Brock raffled off over
$300 in prizes.
DECA
would like to thank to all of our sponsors and student council advisors for
their help.
