The marketing students of the Truman High School DECA Club put together the entire prom fashion show using skills and knowledge for sales, promotion, marketing, visual merchandising, organization, time management, ticket design, advertising, and putting together professional emails and phone calls to vendors.

This was a great hands-on learning experience. The club wants to thank Davids Bridal and Men’s Wearhouse for dressing our models, donating money to our DECA club, and gift certificates for the raffles.

The annual Truman High School football golf outing will be held in May at the Wesburn Golf Course in Rockwood.

Anyone interested in golfing and/or sponsoring should contact Coach Jeff Morrow at (313) 608-1639.

FAMILY & COMMUNITY EXPO a big success

Last week’s Taylor Schools Family & Community Expo (Literacy Luau) held at Kennedy High School was a success, as always.

The principals, teachers, support staff and students are to be commended for their hard work. The event showcased all of the student artwork, literature and vocal performances.

Various schools displayed their featured student work and activities on tables that entirely circled the first floor of Kennedy High School, as well as in the library, cafeteria and gym.

STEM-focused initiatives were especially popular for students, and the Lego Robots were fun to joust with.

Hats off to all of business sponsors and partners for helping to support the event – and a special thank you to Nan Kuhn, and the school improvement director and coordinators for their work to help set up and take down after the event.
