MCDOWELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL to hold first PTA meeting of the year

McDowell Elementary School would like to extend an invitation to all families to attend its first PTA meeting of the year on Friday, September 30, at 9:30 am.

This meeting will be well worth your time to find out how to support our school and bring many more hands to helping the students. We need MOMS, DADS, GRANDPAS, GRANDMAS, AUNTS and UNCLES or any family member who has a heart for kids.

Here is but a few of the many projects you could get involved with:
Book fairs, Santa Shop, picture day, reading, special occasions, helping teachers, and so much more.

And best of all – get connected. There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school. Thank you! See you on the 30th!

MCDOWELL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL starts the day fast

Student-led morning announcements have started at McDowell Elementary School!

The news crew, directed by resource teacher Mrs. Hardin, begin the mornings with pep and enthusiasm. First up dancers that come from our classrooms on a rotating basis invigorate and wake up the building. Everyone always wants to participate! Then everyone gets down to weather, news of the day, the pledge, winners of the day and much more.

Whether in front of the camera or behind, the Bulldogs do a great job!

TAYLOR PARKS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL turns apples into apple sauce

Students at Taylor Parks Elementary School, along with teacher Mrs. Abramas, enjoyed one of Michigan’s best fall fruits, apples.

The students peeled and sliced them. Then with the aid of Mrs. Osbourne, paraprofessional, cooked the apples until they were very soft and mashed them. Then they added all the great spices to create the best apple sauce.

It was a lot of work but the students enjoyed every bite of this healthy treat.
